MAT NAPP

Real Solutions. Real Opinions. No Gatekeeping.

15 years leading modern worship. Now building the tools and takes I wish I'd had.

Watch

Real production and gear decisions from actual Sunday stakes. Opinionated takes I can back up with 15 years of receipts. And the occasional builder log on Wesley AI and Ghost Noise. If it helped my team, I'll show you exactly how. If it wasted my money, I'll tell you that too.

Hey, I'm Mat.

I grew up in a youth group in Murray, Kentucky. Guitars, folding chairs, a projector that worked most of the time. That room is where I learned that what happens on a stage can actually matter.

I spent years in ministry in central Alabama and Florida, and for about 15 years now I've been leading modern worship. Today I serve as Director of Modern Worship and Communications at Dalton First United Methodist Church in Dalton, Georgia. I schedule the volunteers, pick the gear, run the broadcast, write the emails, and stand on the stage. All of it.

Along the way I kept hitting the same wall: the tools built for churches were either bad or overpriced, and the honest information about what actually works was locked up behind sponsorships and sales pitches. So I started building. Wesley AI is my answer for church communications. Ghost Noise is where the music and the creative community live. The YouTube channel is where I say the quiet parts out loud.

It looks like three things. It's one thing. Fifteen years inside church production and ministry, now spent making the stuff I wish someone had handed me at the start.

Why I make this content

Church leaders and production teams make expensive decisions with bad information all the time. I've made plenty of them myself. My job here is simple: help you make better decisions and build better experiences. Real solutions, real opinions, and nothing held back behind a paywall or a wink.

Work With Me

I take on a limited amount of freelance work: communications, web design, social media, and newsletters for churches and small businesses. This is the same work I do every week in my day job, so you're not paying me to learn on your dime. If your website is stuck in 2014 or your newsletter open rate makes you sad, I can probably help. Tell me what you're dealing with and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person for it.
